JD Vance, the Republican running for vice president, was in Woodside on Wednesday night for a benefit. A lot of people who support Trump came out with big flags to greet Vance, and he stopped to talk to some of them.
When the Blue Angels do their ‘practice survey’ flights today, there will be a lot of loud fighter jet action over the city. Practice flights will happen this afternoon through Friday at 5 p.m., before this weekend’s air shows.
So far, more than 130 people in Florida have needed to be rescued from floods caused by Hurricane Milton. At least four people have died because of the storm. As a Category 3 storm, the storm hit land and did a lot of damage with wind and water.
There have been complaints that some floors of UCSF’s Parnassus hospital campus do not have air conditioning, leaving patients to suffer in 95-degree heat and worse last week. UCSF’s reaction has been pretty standard.

Theobald Lengyel is on trial for killing his girlfriend Alice “Alyx” Herrmann. This week, the defence rested their case for two days.
Some of the original evidence in the Scott Peterson case has been given to lawyers with the Los Angeles Innocence Project. These lawyers are still trying to get Peterson a new trial for killing Laci Peterson in 2002.
Han Kang, a South Korean author best known for “The Vegetarian,” won the Nobel Prize for Literature. She is the first person from her country to do so.
